Amarillo by Morning – Being an AAF Addy Awards Judge
I was asked by the Amarillo Advertising Federation (AAF) to come out and judge for the annual ADDY Awards. Myself, and two other judges, looked over a variety of print and broadcast to determine who would medal, get best of show, best print and best broadcast. We even had a few select "Judge's Picks". We reviewed both professional and student work alike. I would have to say that all of us judges were drawn to the work that had a good idea/concept behind them (even then we then wanted to art direct it or leave comments) and we were fairly in sync with each other on which work we found worthy. I know this will sound boring but the other judges and I got along and had good discussions about the work.I also have to say that our hosts for our time in Amarillo were outstanding. They made sure we had everything we needed, took us out for great food (I'm still full from my steak) and took our picture out at The Cadillac Ranch (I'm the one on the left trying to look cool – and failing.).
