Goals

  • To attract 10% more new users vs. the previous year and also increase organic page views by 10% vs. the previous year.
  • To achieve Page One (top 10) rankings for 80% of our target keywords.
  • To continue to capitalize on the PVC shortage and maintain our #1 rankings for the high volume keywords related to this timely event, as well as to grow our topic-related presence on the SERPs by creating new, fresh content to support this topic.

Strategy

To start we identified our top 20 target keywords based on available search volume and search intent. We then created a content calendar that featured 11 SEO-focused blogs targeting our curated keyword list, including 2 blogs focused on leveraging keywords related to the PVC shortage.

We used digital tools to identify which sites and pages were currently ranking in the top 10 for each target keyword, to forecast the SEO performance of each blog and also to provide insight into semantically related keywords for each blog. We also conducted deep research on the intent related to each keyword and identified opportunities to fill content gaps related to our targets.

We utilized SEO best practices including incorporation of our target keywords into page titles, H1s and slugs, and we also incorporated internal and external linking where it was applicable.

Results

Our 11 blogs targeting 20 total keywords:

  • Attracted more than 11.6K new organic users who entered the site by landing on one of the blogs via organic search
  • Contributed to a 30% increase in new users from organic traffic year-over-year (vs. the previous year)
  • Contributed to a 46% increase in organic page views year-over-year (vs. the previous year), far exceeding our goals to increase each metric by 10%.

We achieved Page One (top 10) rankings for 85% of our target keywords, exceeding our goal of 80%.

Our 20 targeted keywords achieved:

  • 6 #1 ranking keywords
  • 17 Page One (top 10) ranking keywords
  • 4 Featured Snippets
  • 2 Indented on SERP Features
  • 2 Domain with Site Links on SERP Features

Additionally our 11 blogs achieved a total of 60+ keyword rankings including 40 Page One (top 10) keyword rankings and numerous SERP features including 5 featured snippets, 9 indented on SERP features, 7 domain with site links features.

Our SEO campaign also contributed to a:

  • 25% increase in organic sessions year-over-year vs the previous year
  • 29% reduction in organic bounce rate year-over-year vs the previous year
  • 27% increase in total organic users year-over-year vs the previous year
