Two Savage Campaigns Receive 2018 IABC Bronze Quill Awards of Excellence

Savage was honored recently by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Houston Chapter with two Awards of Excellence in its 2018 Bronze Quill competition. The awards recognized our brand refresh work with client AFGlobal, and a comprehensive marketing campaign titled “It’s So Easy” for Champion Fiberglass.

Bronze Quill is the premier awards program for Houston area communicators and represents their best work. Winning entries reflect the elite skill set necessary for successful communications initiatives and effective campaigns.

Both Savage awards topped the Marketing, Advertising and Brand Communications Category of the competition.

“Congratulations on your outstanding work and for bringing our brand alive,” said Christine Mathers, Director of Marketing & Communications for AFGlobal.

The AFGlobal brand refresh was targeted to both internal and external audiences to end brand confusion caused from the company’s aggressive acquisition strategy. It included logo development and brand identity, strategic messaging, advertising and website refinement.

“Our ultimate goal was to infuse new life and energy into the brand, and to unify its identity and messaging to showcase the depth of offerings and expertise at AFGlobal,” said Dahlia Salazar, Principal, Vice President and Creative Director at Savage.

The break-through campaign for Champion Fiberglass utilized an illustrated character named “Champ” who was emotionally associated with engineers – the primary target audience. It consisted of four unique print ads, a microsite, customer contest, emails, web banner placements and social media. Its goal was to reinforce that Champion Fiberglass is easy to work with, addressing an important concern of engineers.
